Monsoon... enjoy but take care

Hello everyone.
As I came out of home to get to work the rain was falling hard and i had to wait to get transport.

Rain comes after a long scorching heat and gives lot of relief. When I see pitter patter drops of rain falling I am reminded of scenes with people in raincoats, umbrellas going about their work and kids with big heavy bags marching to school.

Rain brings out the romantic side also as scenes from Hindi films come to mind with couple holding one umbrella.... pyar hua ikraar hua  pyaar se kyon darta hai dil . hehe
scenes of wet earth  greenery all around and the rainbow

who can forget hot tea  vada pav and bhajjiyas in the rain. yummy...

However there are other sides too.

You pray for rain, you gotta deal with the mud too. That's a part of it.
Denzel Washington

Well I say not just mud but there is water logging and diseases too which come out of rain.

Some precautions are necessary to keep oneself safe and health from monsoon related diseases

The diseases associated with monsoon are malaria, jaundice, gastro intestinal infections like typhoid and cholera. Apart from these, viral infections like cold and cough also make their presence felt.

Pollution of drinking water during monsoon is very common. It is very necessary to drink clean and pure water when water borne monsoon diseases like diarrhea and gastro intestinal infections threaten us. Drinking boiled water at home is strongly recommended to tap water. Prefer mineral water of government certified companies when you are away from home.

Walking in dirty water during rainy season leads to numerous fungal infections which affect toes and nails. Diabetic patients have to take a special care about their feet. Always keep your feet dry and clean. Avoid walking in dirty water. Keep your shoes, socks and raincoats dry and clean.

Precautions to be taken

•    Drink only boiled water or use a water purifier. Boiled water kills germs leading to water borne diseases    and is safe to drink.
•    Make sure that you cover the food, vegetables and fruits all the time, to protect them from flies.
•    Avoid eating outside as much as possible especially roadside stalls due to hygiene concerns.
•    Do not eat stale food. This pointer is applicable in all seasons.
•    Make sure that you close water and mud pools on the road in your area or even water containers as openings like these lead to breeding of mosquitoes.
•    Always carry raincoats and umbrellas with you and avoid getting wet in the rain because running cold, cough and fever are dominant in this season.
•    People suffering from asthma attacks or joint problems may have their conditions worsened. Therefore stay indoors as much as possible.
•    Vaccinations for kids against cholera, typhoid and jaundice (Hepatitis A) can be taken as a precautionary measure as this season is prone to epidemics.
•    Some people tend to get gloomy this weather therefore try to engage yourself in some work, hobby or activity.
•    Lots of accidents can occur due to slippery roads therefore drive carefully.
•    Make sure that any piece of your clothing is not damp as it may lead to fungal growth. Therefore wear dry clothes at all times and have more than two pieces of personal clothing in case of unforeseen circumstances.

So enjoy the monsoon but with care.

My first post

Hello. I’m finally here. It may have taken me a while, but like the old saying goes, better late than never.
Encouraged by my friends and well wishers
, I felt it was time to start my blog.

This is going to be a completely random blog. Not this particular entry, but this entire blog in general will be. My blog will be based on my experiences in life on whatever I  come across..   Hehehe..  My everyday thoughts, brainwaves   search…just completely random.
I can’t say I’ll always be right. I can’t say I’ll always be entertaining. But hopefully I’ll be worth stopping by to check in on. Who knows, maybe you’ll even follow this blog…
See you again soon!
