Methi chaman (paneer in methi gravy)

Hello friends! My today's dish is methi chaman and simply put its paneer in lots of methi gravy. Looking at pics all would think that it is same as palak paneer but trust me it is not. The taste and flavour changes. Some days back I was clearing some stuff in my cupboard when I found this recipe which I had noted down some years back and totally forgot about it. Now being a food blogger I need to come up with new dishes for my home as well as my blog.  Lets begin now.

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup paneer cubed ( cottage cheese)
  • 1 1/2 cup palak/spinach chopped
  • 1 cup methi/fenugreek leaves chopped
  • 2tbsp kasoori methi (dry methi leaves)
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2tsp garam masala powder
  • 1tbsp oil
  • 1tbsp butter
  • 1tsp sugar
  • 3tbsp fresh cream
  • salt to taste

Method:

Blanch palak and methi leaves together for 5 mins and keep it aside. Once it cools drain out excess water and blend it into paste.
In a pan heat oil and butter. Add cumin seeds and let it splutter. Then add onion and saute it. Add ginger garlic paste and green chillies chopped to this.

Add the spinach paste we made before and one tbsp of kasoori methi. Mix well and add sugar, garam masala, coriander powder and salt to it. Cook it for roughly two mins.

Now add water to get required consistency for the gravy. Add  half of cream now and mix it. Add paneer pieces when gravy has reached the desired level.

Methi chaman is ready. Garnish it with  remaining cream and kasuri methis and serve it hot with roti or poori or even rice.

Hope you enjoyed this..
